I have been the proud owner of Goldenstones for the past 20 years based in stroud. Growing up on a farm in Horsley / Nailsworth in the Five Valleys. I developed my love for the outdoors helping out on the farm finding myself building or fixing dry stone walls and cutting grass and growing crops.
I somehow found myself joining Gloucestershire constabulary where I would work or the next 19 years eventually finishing up as a Dog Handler. The shift pattern meant that I soon started Goldenstones to keep me occupied on my midweek days off. Within 3 months I was employing my first member of staff and it rapidly progressing from there.
The police showed me how there were some awful tradespeople out there and they literally rob vulnerable or naive customers of there life savings for a very sub-standard job. Having worked closely with Trading standards on one such job I became aware of the “Buy with confidence” scheme they ran. I became the first landscape gardeners in Gloucestershire to be audited and approved by Trading Standards. I felt good old fashioned Trust to do what you were advertising was very important.
I continued to develop my business priding myself that we did it right! We would not cut corners if it was going to be done it had to be done correctly. We set the bar high, we won’t be beaten on quality. We have been an assured installer with Bradstone who assure all our Patio’s, paving, driveways from Natural stone to Porcelain giving our works a 10-year product guarantee and 5-year installation guarantee.
We recently were accepted onto the Association of Professional Landscapers and Horticultural Trade Association. There is a strict code of conduct for being members of these schemes. Being a member of the APL puts on the Government Endorsed Trustmark scheme. This ensures that all projects completed by ourselves are to the highest of standards.
